 A Nighttime Scavenger
« Thread Started on May 23, 2009, 1:32am »

Since becoming the Lunar Claws' main medic, Atticus had learned to take any and all goods where he could get them. The supplies in Demon's Circle were rather limited. If you wanted something, chances were you had to get it yourself. And if you wanted medical supplies, you were going to have to get it by every stretch of the imagination. With half the houses rubble and the other half rooted to within an inch of their lives, he was starting to have to take drastic measures to find the supplies he wanted.

He had looted the island's one hospital (there were still a few things there, but he was uncertain at going there on his own), it's various stores, and pretty much anything else that he came upon, usually in search of things he could use for healing purposes, occasionally in search of things that could be constructed into weapondry for any of his companions. Right now, he was grasping at straws.

The werewolf had left the shelter of Howling Hotel (this was a very, risky move, especially for Atticus, who usually was about as finicky as a gerbil) and stopped by the old Light-Rail station, hoping to find some supplies stowed away inside. So far, the evening had been somewhat of a success. He had recovered two First Aid kits, one from each of the broken down trams, and also found an old, discarded handbag with some Excedrin and a few anti-biotics stowed away. There was also some makeup, which he tossed carelessly over his shoulder before rooting around some more. He didn't know what he was hoping to find now. Maybe another handbag with some more prescription drugs in it. They would more than likely be out of date, but some out-of-date drugs were probably better than none at all...he thought so anyway. Werewolf systems were not as touchy as humans.

Tossing a few more scraps over his shoulder, he delved under the seat of the tram, paying little attention to what was going on around him.

((Hope I am understanding everything correctly ^_^;))

Supplies were running worryingly low back at the base. There was little food and the water was thinning out; the medical supplies were nothing to speak of- they were lucky to find a scrap of clothing to use as a bandage if one of there own returned injured from a run-in with an enemy. Things were getting desperate. Some people were doubting the rebellion- at least when the demons ruled over them they were better kept care of than this.

Dean was not one of those people. Days like this were paradise if the alterative meant going back to the way things had been. He wasn’t about to give up on this just because things were getting rough. He and a few other of the men and woman from the camp had armed themselves with the few working weapons they had and set out to see what they could find. Bennett and Kate had gone in search of food; Ryan had went looking for medical supplies; and Dean had taken it up to go looking for ammunition. So far, nothing. He could only hope the others were having better luck than him.

The sun was going down, he should be heading back soon, he thought. He thought, but he didn’t act on it.

Cautiously, Dean moved down the stairs of the Light-Rail station, his gun held readily in his hands in case there was something else- something dangerous- moving through the darkening building. He kept close to the wall, his dark eyes scanning the surroundings. Nothing jumped out and said ‘Boo’, but he’d noticed that not many things did before they ripped your throat out.

Deciding the coast was clear, Dean lowered his gun slightly and stepped away from the wall, walking over to the train where he hoped something of use was hidden. Half-way through the jarred doorway he heard something- the sound of something hitting the ground- and he raised his gun again, ready to fire.
